best sayings and film lines
From Jordan and Jeremy Kyle to Cantona and Coppola, clichés regularly form part of everyday life and everybody seems in a desperate rush to be heard, so in a bid to separate the wheat from the chaff and strike while the iron’s hot we pay homage to some of the greatest lines spoken in recent times, from Charles Butterworth to Snoop Doggy Dog.
This list of ten is by no means exhaustive but it’s a start, these are a small collection of the office favourites but we’d love to know yours (and so would many of your fellow stags), so please send them in at the end of the article – in the meantime sit back and let these pearlers sit with you a while.
Starting with probably the greatest of them all …
“All men die but not all men live” The Godafther
“You miss 100% of the shorts you don’t take” Wayne Gretsky
“Ain’t nothing to it but to do it” Snoop
“Get busy living or get busy dying” Swashank Redemption
“It ain’t what you do it’s the way that you do it” Bananarama
“I rarely wear underwear but when I do it’s usually a little special” Bill Murray, Stripes
“You ought to get out of those wet clothes and into a dry martini” Charles Butterworth
“I took the liberty of bullshitting you” Elwood, Blues Brothers
“You had me at get lost” Shallow Hal
“No one puts baby in the corner” the mighty Swayze, Dirty Dancing
PS – you get extra points for using any of the last 5 on the stag weekend.
Remember if you’re going to use a cliché or a quality cheesy line, stand firm and deliver well, gents we’ve got to work together to keep the standard high!
